Having Problems sending Email from Outlook?

One day suddenly you switch on your PC and face the problem that you are unable to send mails from your domain which you have hosted with Global Promotions? Don't panic, we are going to help you!

We have created a checklist for you so in case you ever should have this problem you could get back to it. Please follow all the points step by step, then your problem should not be a problem anymore:

Checklist for Email Problems

Check your Internet Connection1. Check your Internet Connection

Sometimes it can happen that you are browsing websites although you are not connected to the Internet anymore. This is because your computer has stored the website's information and is browsing this one now instead.

To check if you are really having Internet connection, please browse a website which you have never visited before or check your router which has to have all lamps working in order to be working.

You are having Internet connection but the Outlook still doesn't want to send mails?

2. Check your Outlook Configurations

First of all you should have a look if your Outlook is configured the way it should be. Also if your emails have been working for long and you have not changed anything, please go through the settings and check if all is correct.

Open your Outlook. Under Tools you will find a submenu with Email Accounts. Choose your email account which is making troubles and click on Properties. Check the following settings. Please also check for any spelling mistakes in your domain name:

Check your Outlook ConfigurationsUser Information
Your Name: User Name
Email Address: user@yourdomainname.com

Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3): yourdomainname.com
Outgoing mail server (SMTP): yourdomainname.com

Logon Information:
User name: user@yourdomainname.com
Password: your password

If all of these points are correct, please click on More Settings. Open 'Outgoing Server' and check if ' My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication' is ticked. It is not? Please make a tick on it.

Your Outlook is configured correctly but the problem still persists?

3. Check your Webmail

Try to connect to your webmail through www.yourdomainname.com/webmail. Please login with your email address and password. Try to send an email. In case you cannot send, please give us a call.

If the mail is going through, please continue with step 4. Use webmail to send important mails until the problem is solved.

4. Check back with your Internet Provider

Recently some of the Internet providers have changed their settings or blocked the SMTP Port 25. Please contact your Internet provider to check if this is the case and what are the new settings. You probably have to change your Outlook configuration accordingly.

You have done all of the above but the result is still the same: You cannot send mails.

5. Please give us a call

If all above points are not successful, please give us a call under +20 65 344 0685 or +20 12 273 7859 and we will try all our best to help you out.

Keep your website up to date

Since the first websites have been published in the 90s a lot has happened in the playground of the Internet. New possibilities, new techniques, new styles. Usually it is quite funny to discover a website from those times, from years ago, when the Internet was still something new and people just got started: Horrible fonts, blinking cartoon animations, awful background textures,... Sure it was really funky at this time, but nowadays? Or do you still like the pullover which you bought 15 years ago?

Keep your website up to dateThe more it shocks that such sites cannot just be found in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, but also are working in live mode, representing companies and businesses. When thinking about serious website visitors at this point it becomes dangerous:

Imagine an Internet user, intending to book a luxurious vacation in the Red Sea Riviera, is searching Google for "red sea holiday". The page he finds is an old-fashioned, gif animation filled website. Which impression does he get from this company? Will this really be a reliable company to organize an unforgettable holiday?

In order to attract visitors and to generate recognition and profit it is important to have a website which is up to date. This doesn't include only the content but also the design itself. Fashion is changing, every season the newest dresses are presented on the runaways, and so do websites. What was "in" 5 years ago might be considered as a "no-go" today.

Browse your website and have a look at it. Imagine you are someone who does not know your company and has never seen your website before. What do you think? Which impression do you get? Would you trust this company? Would you buy or take services from them?

If you realize that your website could get a make-over, contact us. We will discuss the current website's pros and cons as well as analyze your requirements and needs. We will help you to get a website which is up to date, to make a better first impression for your customers.

Regularly check your Hosting Disc Space

Regularly check your Hosting SpaceAccording to your hosting plan you have a specific amount of disc space. Disc space is the size your website can be. Every single letter on your website has to be stored somewhere on your web host's server. Each letter is one byte, and a megabyte is roughly one million bytes. HTML pages are usually very small, but it is the extra images, scripts, and even databases that can take up large amounts of disk space.

Additionally the emails which are stored on the server are counting within your disc space. If you have set up your Outlook or another email program to "leave a copy of the message on the server" it soon can reach your disc space limit and you are unable to receive further emails or upload any files to your website.

For this reason check your disc space regularly. You can do this by logging in to your cPanel through www.yourdomainname.com/cpanel. In the left column you can find then an overview about your recourses. Under "Disc Space Usage" you can find how much you have available and how much is currently in use. To know what is taking the entire used disc space click in the main column under Files on "Disc Space Usage". If "mail" is on the top of the summary then you should delete some mails in order to free up some space.

To delete mails stored on the server login to Webmail through www.yourdomainname.com/webmail. Please login here with your email address and password. Choose the Horde email client and then just go ahead with deleting unnecessary mails. If your spam box is enabled please also delete all mails under the folder "spam" which you can find in Horde.
